Two Brews from Innis & Gunn

We had another knock at our door this week and this time, we had a real reason to be excited! Two cases from the famous Innis & Gunn, Brewery in Edinburgh, Scotland. As you probably already know, Innis & Gunn's beer have a really distinct flavour that is created from brewing their beer in oak whisky casks. One was a case of the nearly new Rare Oak Pale Ale, the other was of the beautifully boxed Limited Edition Malt Whisky Trail. Looks good, but let's he see how they lined up!a warm bitter whisky finish that lingers at the back of your throat and puts a smile on your face.Limited Edition Malt Whisky Trail 7.4% ABVThis has been matured from Scotland's five whisky-producing regions. Sounds special... and man it is special.Appearance The first thing that strikes you is the deep ruby look that has a whiskey-like glow when you hold it up to the light. Nose Sweet treacle aroma with a hint of vanilla. Taste Sweet vanilla that is met by a warm bitter whiskey finish that lingers at the back of your throat and puts a smile on your face. Opinions Absolutely beautiful and without a doubt, one of the best beers that we've ever had.RaRe Oak Pale Ale5.8% ABVAppearance Pale, with a slight amber-ish glow, this beer really shouts out, 'can't wait'! Nose Fresh and hoppy, with sweet hints of honey. Taste Light with fruity flavors, this brew has a deep, malty feel. There is also a certain sweetness to this brew, that is counteracted by a musky bitter-whiskey finish. Opinions Lovely beer, more for occasions when you are chilling in your back garden on a hot summers day! Both of these brews are cracking. These unique beers have interesting flavors to savour and we would highly recommend giving them a try. Great for a rainy day or a special occasion!
