Twisted Barrel Ale Brewery - "More Folk than Punk"
I got these bad boys through the post quite a while back and have been meaning to put them on. They're from a bad ass brewery down in Coventry. First things first, there were some cracking quotes on the back, I won't re-quote them in this feature as I will leave it to you to check them out when you get them! ;)
Call of the Korriban - 5.6% ABV
[su_row][su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][su_column size="1/2"]A “Black IPA” that has a stout-like appearance . But this brew is very deceptive with a very hoppy aroma met with a fine mix of sweet malty flavours and a nicely overpowering, bitter hoppiness. Definitely a unique creative creature from the deep! From taste and aroma, you would expect this to look a deep amberish IPA.[/su_column][/su_row]
Brobdingnagian - 6.0% ABV
[su_row][su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][su_column size="1/2"]At 6.0% this export vanilla mild sure has a kick! Sweet aroma with a smoked coffee backbone lightened with hints of vanilla and a slight fruitness. This is carried through into the flavours with hints of sweet smoke and toffee, ended with hints of nut and bitter chocolate.[/su_column][/su_row]
The Saison From Another Place - 5.6% ABV
[su_row][su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][su_column size="1/2"]A light Belgian farmhouse, brewed with dried elderflower. Nice head, floral aroma with hints of elderflower. The aroma has a fantastic mix of sweetness, bitter-hippiness, finished off with a hint of smoke & spice that tingles on your tongue or as they say “a lip-smackingly spicy finish”[/su_column][/su_row]
Saison IPA Sine Qua Non Session IPA - 4.5% ABV
[su_row][su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][su_column size="1/2"]A Cloudy brew, with a dark orange/ brown tinge. Uber hoppy aroma with hints of tropical fruit… smells like a holiday paradise! Finished off with a bitter boom! Now this is my kind of brew! Reminds me a bit like a double hopped IPA. Definitely a force to be with.[/su_column][/su_row]So all in all, some really well crafted brews... Big it up to the West Midlands!!!
