Beer Bazaar Brum Review!
So there had been A LOT of hype over this one, with plenty of talk of what could be one of the top events of the year in Birmingham. So after a brief meet up with some pals down at the Welly, it was time for us to trot down to Beer Bazaar Brum and we simply could not wait! The three day event which was based in The Studio in Birmingham, was sponsored by Purity Brewing Co. and was a collab between local historian Andy Maxam, the Wellington pub and Tilt Brum. The bazaar was broken into two floors:[su_row][su_column size="1/2][/su_column] [su_column size="1/2"]First of all we checked out the third Floor, which had: Tilt bar, Twisted Barrel Ale, Burning Soul Brewery, Fixed Wheel Brewery, Chi’s Gourmet Sausage Rolls (which were delicious), plus some EPIC art from local legend Jinxy! The mood was VERY chilled, with plenty of crafty characters from Birmingham’s beer scene and further afar! We weren't sure who was serving and who was partying but that was the beauty of it. Everyone was having the time of their life, with dancing, mingling, eating, enjoying some great brews and epic music too! Brendon from the Bottle Shed was definitely the life and soul of the party! ;)[/su_column][/su_row]We properly kicked the night off in style with Burning Soul's “Chapter One”, which was the first beer brewed in their brewery, a single keg of soured beer, left alone (mostly) :) for a year! We then moved onto Fixed Wheel's Summer Smiles, which we reviewed back in June. We then finally got to taste Rasberry Ripple Sour from Twisted Barrel down in Coventry, which was a cracking combo of sweet vanilla and sour raspberry![su_row][su_column size="1/2][/su_column] [su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][/su_row]Moving downstairs to the second floor, the atmosphere was well and truly buzzing with Purity Bar, The Wellington Cask Bar, Hook Norton Brewery, Green Duck Brewery, Clink Beer, Fownes Brewing Co., Hogans Cider and Andy’s Low ‘N’ Slow.[su_row][su_column size="1/2][/su_column] [su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][/su_row]Plenty of brews were flowing, the Wellington’s bar were serving beer from the wood, which was a hit with many a real ale fan! Green Duck had their New England IPA on the go called Ricochet, which was VERY smooth, but at 7.2% perhaps a little too dangerously so! Hook Norton had their classic Old Hooky on Cask, we honestly hadn’t had this on cask so that was EPIC! It was also great to finally meet the lads from Fownes Brewing, giving Broddr’s Swan Song a go… Not quite sure who Broddr is, but his beer tastes bloody fantastic! For those cider lovers, Hogan's also had their famous Perry that we all know and love! Also with Clink's bottles to go, there were a fair few night caps too! :)[su_row][su_column size="1/2][/su_column] [su_column size="1/2"][/su_column][/su_row]The festival was definitely a hit with us and everyone that we spoke to was impressed, the layout was nice, with multiple levels which made the festival seem a lot bigger. As expected, the beer was fab, which we already knew, the thing that made it for us was the sense of Birmingham’s Beer Scene coming together (again) might I add, as Birmingham Beer Week had sailed its maiden voyage three weeks prior. So keep it up Birmingham, would love to see more of this! :)Images courtesy of Lisa Bray Photography.
