So the first frost is here and the nights are well and truly drawing in. Your face hurts when you go outside but that doesn't stop many of us, especially at the thought of that crackling log fire at our local inn or tavern! Little Valley Brewery Stoodley Stout - 4.8% abv

Brewed on the smallest island in the world with its own brewery, this classic Scots ale is as dark and brooding as the storms which sweep across their remote Atlantic outcrop. St. Austell Brewery - Mena Dhu Stout 4.5% abv

Meaning "Black Hill”, this is a six malt Cornish Stout. Innis & Gunn - Red Blood Sky (Rum Barrel Red Beer) 6.8% abv

"Blood red sky sets a scene. Warm Caribbean sand, flickering candles, cold beer and anticipation of the night to come. Traquair House - Jacobite 8% abv

First brewed in 1965, this ale was named in the Top 50 World Beers in the International Beer Competition twice! Appearance: Dark with a slight reddy glow, fair few bubbles and a moderate head.Aroma: Plum, molasses and a hint of vanilla, complimented by a dash of spice, ginger and coriander.Flavour: Rich and fruity, almost like a warm fruit salad, followed by a sweet maltiness and a slightly oaky, bitter finish, creating a brew comparable to a fine sherry.

Loch Lomond Brewery - Silkie Stout 5% abv

"Silkies (or selkies) are mythological creatures found in Scottish folklore. Silkies are said to live as seals in the sea but shed their skin to become human on land to find a loved one. The word derives from earlier Scots selich meaning seal."
