Our Lockdown Beer Highlights!
So after three and a bit months of no pubs, many of Britain's great boozers reopened... man it felt like a lifetime! It's weird though, although we really missed the pub on the flip side we discovered a completely different drinking experience… virtual tastings, brewery tours and a fantastically curated 'pub night box’. Of course we also discovered a fantastic range of beers too which is why we've decided to compile a list of ten brews that made lockdown just that little bit easier. This list is completely unbiased, we estimate in total we tried over 110 beers during lockdown so there’s probably plenty more for us to discover!
Time and Tide Brewing - Soup Dragon IPA, 6.4%
Sweet n' juicy, with a well balanced bitterness and a nice touch of hoppy burn in the finish! Smooth and creamy mouthfeel... 😋👍🍻
Fierce Beer - Maple Pancake Pale, 6.5%
WOW, this is like liquid pancakes and maple syrup! Such a gorgeous aroma, we're keeping the can! This was AWESOME! 😍
Wander Beyond Brewing - Mini City of Gold table beer, 3.0%
One of best table beers we've had, a strawberry milkshake-like brew with a slight bitterness, perfect for easy drinking and a perfect riding beer at a mellow 3.0%! 😏👌🍻🚴
Barrier Brewing Company - Shore Shaker DDH IPA, 4.2%
Cracking brew, mega juicy and tropical with an awesome bitter blast in the finish... At gob smacking 4.2%... so much depth and flavour! 😍🤤👍🍻
Turning Point x Siren - Virtue Is Lost, Guava, Vanilla, & Cacao Sour, 5.3%
From Turning Point’s New Frontiers collaboration and a virtual pub night that we’ll never forget… from what we can remember of it! An unbelievably smooth sour, which is astonishing for a beer with no lactose. 😜👍
Leviathan Brewing - You and I Should Ride the Coast IPA, 6.5%
Cracking IPA, juicy and tropical with an awesome bitterness in the finish!... We're totally there! 😎👊🏖️
Amundsen Brewery - Viking Brunchfest Club, Breakfast Mud Cake Ultra Pastry Stout, 13.5%
Syrupy, liquid, boozy chocolate mud cake. As always a phenomenal from a phenomenal brewery! 🍫🤤🍻
Abbeydale Brewery - Wanderer NEIPA, 6.8%
This NEIPA is Citra and Cascade dry hopped. It’s pretty juicy, with a citrusy sweetness, a creamy mouthfeel and well balanced bitter hoppy finish. Exceptional, especially for a gluten free brew! 😋👍🍻
Duration Brewing - Turtles All The Way Down, American Pale, 4.2%
This was probably our fav from Duration's virtual tasting back in May! A lovely punchy aroma, with hints of pine, marmalade and a touch of honey. It is pretty sweet and juicy, with a delicate bitterness and at 5.5% a good sessionable brew. 😜👍🍻 🐢
Salt Beer Factory - IKAT DDH DIPA, 8%
Uber tropical, sweet, with a well-balanced bitterness... mega smooth and super easy! 😜👍
