Anspach & Hobday’s Latest Can Run!
A lot has happened since Anspach & Hobday’s first can release back in March. The pubs are now shut, with many more breweries being forced to close their doors. Now more than ever is a time to support independent businesses like these guys! The brewery based on London’s Bermondsey Beer Mile is renowned for creating a diverse range, while embracing traditional styles that are made for the modern day drinker. This is something that is well reflected in their awesome can artwork. Following their successful crowdfunding campaign that raised over £500,000 back in 2019, they launched their very first batch of cans; The Ordinary Bitter, The Pale Ale, The Sour Dry Hop and The Sea Salt & Chilli Stout. All were absolute crackers, so as you can imagine, when we had a knock on the door this week with a drop of their newest run of cans, we were totally stoked! This time round, we have The Table Beer, The English Pale, The Porter and The IPA. All are vegan friendly and available to get your hands on from their online shop; The Table Beer, 3.0% - Brewed collab with German Kraft, an easy-going, crisp, clean beer. Brewed with the noble Hallertau Mittelfrüh hop, it has a slightly floral aroma, a slight sweetness and subtle bitterness. Great for a low ABV and the perfect session starter. The Porter, 6.7% - This is Anspach & Hobday’s flagship beer and man it doesn’t disappoint! Poured, it could be mistaken for a work of art, this darkish brown brew has a fantastic, dense head that retains really well, leaving plenty of lacing on the side of the glass. Full of rich flavours, chocolate, roasted coffee and a warming touch of spice in the finish. A solid, well-balanced attempt at this firm London favourite. The IPA, 6.0% - Another classic and definitely our favourite of the four! A cracking combo of pine resin, peach and other stone fruit in the aroma. Followed into the flavours and met by a bitter finish. Very smashable, we could easily stick to this all night long! The English Pale, 4.0% - Brewed with the new and progressive English Hop, Jester, this brew has an awesome tropical aroma, and a touch of spice. A subtle fruity sweetness in flavour, that is is met by well-balanced bitterness. With the weather on the up, this is definitely well primed for enjoying in the garden!Great work guys, a line-up that certainly brightened up social distancing life! You can grab the beers here, remember to keep on supporting independents, stay safe and most importantly drink beer!
